About Gledholt
Our fellowship has a real family feel. We have a membership of around 80 and a regular congregation that spans an age range from 0 to 90+. There is a growing proportion in the younger age groups and we have a significant core of young adults aged 18 to 30. We also have a number of families with young children and a small group of younger teens. Our building has modern and flexible facilities for worship and other activities, and is occasionally used for residential youth weekends.
The church is situated in an urban area of West Yorkshire, close to Huddersfield town centre, with excellent public transport links to Leeds and Manchester. The church has good relationships with other churches within the Methodist circuit as well as with neighbouring churches of different denominations. We are actively involved in Churches Together in Huddersfield, and we are regularly involved with Alpha. Many church members are involved in youth activities including weekends away and an annual Camp.
We describe our mission as “gathering, growing, going for the glory of God”: we gather for worship, prayer and fellowship; we grow through prayer, teaching, worship, Bible study and service; we go out into the community and wider world to serve and witness for the glory of God.
Our Sunday services are based around a Methodist format but we use creative and interactive worship styles as well as the more traditional, and we try to get a balance of music styles each week. We have a small worship band that leads the music. Many of our members are involved in weekly house groups and during Autumn 2012 all the groups will be considering mission, with a series of Sunday morning sermons on the subject.
Visitors can be sure of a warm welcome, with an opportunity to chat over tea and coffee at the end of the service.

We study the Bible and have a discussion – ranging from deep and meaningful to light and amusing. We pray together, chat and laugh in a relaxed atmosphere.
We tried to describe ourselves as an animal and settled on a sloth – we don’t move very fast but we keep clinging on as disciples of Jesus!

Wednesday
If the House group that meets Wednesday evening at the home of the Hoyles was a holiday, we might say we are like a Cruise!
We are very laid back and enjoy one another's company. We’re all on a journey of discovery and we each have things to learn and share.
Mirth, merriment and a good laugh together help us not to take ourselves too seriously or imagine we are so holy that we can’t have weaknesses and needs.
Like all fair weather sailors we don't plan too far ahead but may map out a study series for 6 weeks or so.
If, however, we begin a series and decide we don't like the material we simply abandon it and find something else to do.
Like visitors to a port city, sometimes we leave the safety of our study guide and go it alone.
This may involve one of us researching a topic or bible verse and bringing the findings to the group to discuss.
We pray for others, and also minister to each other through prayer and occasional laying on of hands.
Although the group is presently all male, females are most welcome.

Junior Church
In Junior Church we have around 7-10 children a week who explore the Bible in different ways through craft, baking, reading and drama. We have a topic which we study over a three week period so we can look deeper into the subject. In the past we have done Narnia- linking this into the Bible, Space and creation, Prayer and Communion. We also hold activity mornings on various Saturday mornings throughout the year. We would love to see you there!

Mission Series
Gods Mission, My Mission, Our Mission
Over a span of five weeks Gledholt had a time of refocusing ourselves on what God is doing in our church and in Huddersfield. Seeking to hear from God we looked at how we could move forward in our faith as individuals, as a church and as a community. Focusing on current mission projects to build on, any potential new ventures and the areas He wants us to stop.
